Blue Bungalow Candle Review - Bath and Body Works

Blue Bungalow Bath & Body Works Candle Review

Blue Bungalow was a candle we’ve had from Bath & Body Works a number of times before. How does the 2023 version stack up against the others? Find out here!

What It Smells Like

  • Description: Blue Bungalow smells like a beautiful mashup of salty, aquatic ocean air mixed with a creamy tropical white floral brightened by a dash of juicy citrus fruit. It is a unique fragrance that combines aspects of a fresh and aquatic salty cologne fragrance reminiscent of Fresh Sea Walk and Crystal Waters, but adds in a floral note as well that reminds me of plumeria or gardenia. The floral components of this candle is similar to Vanilla Beach Flower and Beach Orchid.

  • Comparisons: This candle is particularly confusing as Beach Bungalow has been out in previous packagings before with a different set of notes: swaying palms, salty breezes, golden rattan cane and sweet grapefruit. While Bath & Body Works has a history of giving new notes to the same repackaged fragrance, this time around, the 2023 Blue Bungalow is actually a completely new and different fragrance. This candle is not comparable to the previous Blue Bungalow and is instead most similar to Crystal Waters. The aquatic cologne vibe of this candle is similar to Fresh Sea Walk, and the floral components of this candle is similar to Vanilla Beach Flower and Beach Orchid.

How It Performs

  • Burn: This has the thick rope-like wicks that have a hot and intense burn. It pools out in no time, but does start sooting quite a bit after 2-3 hours. Trimming before each burn is advised.

  • Throw: Medium. The first burn was rather light, but it did pick up on subsequent burns. It is now more a 6-6.5 out of 10. It is a light fresh fragrance that still travels and wafts through the space.

Conclusion

I was originally not at all excited for this fragrance as I was not a fan of the previous Blue Bungalow fragrance. Color me surprised when I smelled this in store and it was a completely new fragrance! I really enjoy this new take on Blue Bungalow and love the unique blend of both the fresh salty ocean air mixed with a beautiful white floral. Tropical, beachy florals are one of my favorite type of fragrances, so I’m really digging this one. I might even reconsider purchasing this one after my first one is done! Lastly, the packaging is gorgeous on this, down to the gold metallic accents and the beautiful turquoise wax color.
