Candle Trends
Once upon a time, we had all the cereal candles coming at us, from Cereal Marshmallow Bar to Cereal & Cartoons, but now we’ve transitioned from staying at home eating cereal to traveling to the Amalfi Coast. I guess this makes sense as the quarantine era moves past us. But this begs the question, is there a Candle Conference or a Candle Congress that all the candle brands attend ahead of a new year?
Having talked to an industry insider once, they did mention in passing that there were conferences attended by candle brands in which new retail trends are revealed. If this is true, the Amalfi Coast must’ve been the hot trend for the spring of 2023, much like cereal candles were a hot trend once before. On my Instagram live, TikTok aficionado, Joey, did mention that the Amalfi Coast was a hot thing on TikTok last year, so perhaps this influenced this year’s trend.

What does the Amalfi Coast smell like?
I honestly couldn’t tell you since I’ve never been! Instead of vacationing in exotic locations like the Amalfi Coast, I’m sitting here at home blogging about candles. But if I had to take a guess, it must smell like lemons. A quick search reveals that the Amalfi Coast is known for beautiful lemon groves along steep terraces surrounded by beautiful blooming bougainvilleas, fragrant gardens and gorgeous oceanside vistas. It truly seems like paradise, and no wonder the candle industry wants to capitalize on such a breath-taking getaway. Amalfi lemons are apparently some of the most-prized lemons in the world.
Conclusion
On one hand, I feel as though having pre-determined trends for candle companies to jump on seems a bit “bandwagon-y” and part of me wishes a brand would wholeheartedly march to the beat of it’s own drum. But I also fully realize the nature of retail is to capitalize on hot trends and popular culture. How do you feel about candle trends and do you enjoy the latest Amalfi Coast trend?
